Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Police say they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in relation with the event," they added.
City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for details.
A high-ranking representative said the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
