Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former mentor his previous coach.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's first title following the Rome competition and first on a hard court from that period of 2023.

Success also indicates the Russian has secured 21 titles at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in that event previously this season.

His retrieving play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional title, took control to push for a final set.

The opponent rescued four initial chances in a close deciding set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
